About Friends

Friends of Orono Schools was launched in January 2024 as a new way to support a broad range of activities and needs at the Orono Schools.  The Orono Boosters that have actively run concession stands at sporting events in Orono for decades, without being a nonprofit organization, is now part of Friends of Orono Schools, as well as the Orono Schools Arts Coalition. Friends looks forward to growing the support for our schools in this broader, more formal capacity, bringing in alumni, parents of all students, and residents to support the legacy and ensure the future of our community schools.

Friends of Orono Schools is an IRS 501c3 nonprofit organization with a volunteer board.

Friends of Orono Schools is a fully volunteer run organization so all donations go straight to supporting the schools. The board of directors as of February 28, 2024 include:

• Catherine Thibedeau, Orono parent and President

• Erica Tweedie, Orono parent and Treasurer

• Laura Mitchell, Orono parent and Vice President

• Mike Archer, Orono High School Athletic Director
